Week #8

  • Our Varsity team won our last regular season region match against Central.  This gives us the first seed and a first round bye in the region tournament with perfect 5-0 record beating all opponents in straight sets.   After a bit of a break, we traveled to St. Pius for their annual playdate.  We ended the day 1-3 with a win over Mt. Vernon and losses to Apalachee, Northside Columbus, and Whitewater.  This playdate was an important one as we were forced to explore and workout new lineups due to unfortunate injuries.  (Please keep Nidhisha and Jordan in your thoughts as they begin the healing process)  These resilient girls worked through new line ups/new positions and did a terrific job adjusting this weekend.

  • Lambert hosted the JV Region Tourney the first Saturday of Fall Break.  Our girls worked hard and played well ending the day with a third place finish.  We are proud of our girls and coaches for all they have accomplished this season!

  • Our Freshman Team competed in their Region Tourney the Friday before Fall Break.  It has been so exciting watching these girls grow this season.  They finished the tourney with a strong 2nd place finish.  Thank you to the girls and the coaches for all the hard work!

  • The Junior Longhorns competed in their Region Tourney at North the first Saturday of Fall Break.  The White Team played fabulously and finished the season with a 2nd place finish!  😊  Great Job!  The Crimson Team competed at an extremely high level and won a match against North in what many thought was the finals.  Unfortunately, it was a double elimination tournament, and they had to play North again as it was North’s first loss of the day.  After a grueling match, the girls ended with a second place finish.  We could not be more proud of our Junior Longhorns and their coaches for an incredible season!

Week #7

It was another busy week of region play for our teams.  Here’s a recap:

  • Our Varsity Team had a great week going undefeated again in region play.  We took on Milton Tuesday evening for Senior Night.  It was a wonderful night honoring our amazing seniors, Claire and Ally.  Thank you to all of the Longhorn Family who were there to support them!  Our team took care of business making quick work of Milton in straight sets.  We traveled to West on Thursday and continued the trend with another three set victory.  With the two wins last week, our girls secured the FIRST SEED going into the Region Tournament starting October 9th at Lambert.  Whooo Hooo!

  • The Junior Varsity Team continued region play this week as well.  On Tuesday they had a very exciting three set win over Milton.  Thursday evening was an absolute nail biter that resulted in a 27-29, 25-27 loss to West.  My money is on our girls the next time we face West though!

  • Our Freshmen Team continued region play on Monday with a straight set victory over South followed by a tough loss to Milton.  On Saturday they played in the St. Pius Playdate.  The girls fought hard and had a two set win over Lakeside along with close match losses to St. Pius, North Gwinnett, and Milton.

  • Our Junior Longhorns traveled to West on Wednesday.  Both our Crimson Teams and White Teams ended the night with big victories over Central!  Our Crimson Team went on to beat West and our White Team had a tight loss to West.  On Saturday, the Junior Longhorns competed in the SVC Middle School Championships.  The Crimson girls came out strong with a win against Mt. Vernon and took a set off of Roswell to advance to the Championship Bracket.  The showed so much fight, but came up a bit short against North Forsyth.  Our White Team won the first round of pool play with victories over Sprayberry and Roswell.  After reseeding, they worked hard, but ended up with losses to Brookwood and Hooch.

Week #6

Region play has begun!  It was a busy and exciting week for our teams!

  • Our Varsity had a FANTASTIC week to kick of region play with victories over South Forsyth and North Forsyth in straight sets at home!  Whoo hooo!  On Saturday we played in the highly competitive SVC Georgia Challenge.  Our girls continued the momentum of the week by winning our pool with yet another victory over South Forsyth and a win over Douglas County.  We advanced to the Gold Bracket Semifinal match by defeating Centennial in straight sets.  We faced a very talented Chamblee team and came up a bit short in a great match.

  • The Junior Varsity girls faced very tough competition to open up region play.  They lost a three set heartbreaker to South Forsyth on Tuesday and had a tough loss to North Forsyth on Thursday.  On Saturday they traveled to South Forsyth for the JV All City Challenge.   They posted wins over Cambridge and North Cobb, but lost to Etowah and North Gwinnett.

  • Our Freshmen Team started out region play with BIG wins over West and South Forsyth in three exciting sets.  The only region loss of the week came from Milton.  On Wednesday the ladies traveled to Etowah.  They posted a great win over Denmark, a hard fought three set loss to Etowah, and a non region loss to Milton.

  • Our Junior Longhorns faced off this week against North Forsyth and West Forsyth.  The Crimson Team had another thrilling match against North Forsyth, but couldn’t quite pull of a victory.  They went on to beat West in the second match.  Our White Team played their hearts out and showed so much improvement, but had losses to both North and West.

Week #5

  • Our Varsity Team took care of business with wins over both Denmark and Central in two straight sets.

  • The Longhorn JV Team started the week with victories over Woodstock and Denmark and then a tough loss to Etowah.  The ladies had a STRONG SHOWING on Saturday at the highly competitive Norcross JV Tournament winning their pool with wins over Archer, Central and Parkview.  The winning continued in the first round match of the Gold Bracket against Collins Hill.   After a tough fight, they ended their run in the semifinals against a tough Hebron Team.  Proud of you all!

  • Our Freshman traveled to Creekview this week for a night of tough competition.  The girls came up with a big victory over Denmark and tough losses to Etowah and Creekview.

  • The Junior Longhorns played at South this week.  Both our Crimson and White Teams came up with BIG victories over South!  Whooo Hoooo!  They both went on to face two tough Roswell teams and came up a bit short.  Next time!

Week #4

  • It was quite a week for our varsity team dodging multiple injuries and illnesses.  Our extremely flexible team fought hard this week under trying circumstances.  Tuesday we went 1-1 with a tough loss to Mill Creek and a big win over Cambridge.  We capped off the week Thursday at North Gwinnett with a five set thrilling victory that included every single (healthy) athlete on the team contributing in a big way!   It was incredible to see these girls fight with such a will to win!  😊

  • Our JV Team came out strong on Wednesday with a huge revenge win over Cherokee in three sets!  Love to see the girls come out and take care of business after a tough loss to Cherokee last week.   The ladies ended the night with a two set victory over Roswell.  Way to go girls!

  • Our Freshman continue to grow and play with so much fight!  They started the week with a two set victory over Centennial and a tough three set loss to West Forsyth on Monday.  On Wednesday these hard working girls had a tough loss to Cherokee in the first match of the night.  They quickly rebounded with a big, three set win over Roswell.  It was quite a statement win as they took the third set 15-0!  Whoo Hoo!

  • Our Junior Longhorns had their first home match this week!  It was such a joy to get to watch them play and see how far they have come since our tryouts in May.  Our Crimson Team played a gutsy match against a talented North Forsyth team, but came up just a bit short in three, thrilling sets.  It was an incredible match and my money is on our Longhorns the next time they meet up!  The Crimson Team went on to earn a victory over Milton in the second match of the night.  Our White Team played their hearts out as well!  The girls gave it all they had, but lost in two sets to North to start the night.  They came back in the second set determined and beat Milton soundly!  I’m really proud of these girls and coaches!

Week #3

  • Our varsity team had quite a week this week with wins over Creekview, North Atlanta, and unfortunately a frustrating loss to Dunwoody.  On Saturday we played in the All City Playdate at South with the top teams in the state at all divisions.  We started off strong with a big win over Buford!  The girls played well and fought hard, but came up a bit short in exciting matches against St. Pius and Lassiter.  We dropped the last match of a VERY long day to Etowah.

  • Our JV team traveled to Cherokee this week.  The girls gave it all they had, but dropped a tough 3 set match to Etowah and then ended with a loss to Cherokee.

  • The 9th grade team came out like gangbusters and Beat Denmark in single digits this week!  Fantastic work!!   They came back on Wednesday with a win over Etowah in an exciting 3 set match and then dropped the next match to Cherokee.  On Saturday they played in the Norcross Tourney with big wins over Grayson and Providence.  They advanced to the Silver Bracket and lost a very exciting 3 set match to Mill Creek to end the day.

  • Our Junior Longhorns brought it this week!  Both our Crimson and White Teams had BIG wins over Milton and Central!!!   They are playing great and we are so proud!

Week #2

  • Our Varsity Team had a great first full week of competition with a 5 set victory over Chattahoochee on Tuesday, and 2 set victories over Denmark and Brookwood.

  • The Longhorn JV Team had a tough loss to Milton on Wednesday. However, after Centennial’s JV was a no show, it was decided that they would play Milton one more time. The girls came back like gangbusters and defeated Milton in the second match!

  • The Freshman Team came out strong with a big win over Centennial and a close loss to Milton.

  • Our Junior Longhorn Crimson team lost an extremely close match to Peachtree Middle and won their match against Chattahoochee. Our White Team fought hard but came up a bit short with both Peachtree Middle and Chattahoochee. Lots of growth by bo

Week #1

  • Our varsity team played in the Sequoyah Classic Tournament on Friday and Saturday. We had quite a challenging draw for this tourney, to say the least, facing top teams in the state. We ended the weekend with a loss in the first round of the Gold Bracket. We had a strong win over North Paulding and losses to Blessed Trinity and Sequoyah (the eventual tourney champion). The girls fought and grew so much as a team with each match played!
